Roofers Penicuik

Penicuik made paper for two centuries, and the town's oldest roofs date from that era. The stone terraces and Victorian villas around the town centre conservation area carry original Scots slate, and after a hundred years and more of Pentland weather the familiar problems show up: slipped and cracked slates, worn lead valleys, and ridge mortar that has given up. Our roof repairs match the existing slate in size and colour so a repair blends in rather than announcing itself, and a free roof inspection tells you honestly whether repair or replacement is the right call.

Most of Penicuik, though, was built in a much shorter burst. The estates at Cornbank, Cuiken and Deanburn went up as the town expanded rapidly in the decades after the war, and their concrete tile roofs are now 50 to 70 years old. We see the same pattern across these streets: delaminating tiles, crumbling ridge lines and perished underlay, often on every house in the row. For many of these properties a full re-roof is the cost-effective answer, and because neighbouring roofs age together we can often quote adjoining homes while the scaffolding is up. Rotten timber fascias on these estates are also prime candidates for maintenance-free uPVC roofline replacement.

The newer estates at Greenlaw Mains, Mauricewood and Kirkhill bring their own list: felt-covered flat roofs on porches and garages that blister and leak within 15 years, dry verge caps lifted by wind, and tiles slipped after storms.
